Attended the Urban Poultry Auctionon Sunday and was quite let down *sniff*

The breed I wanted to buy was only being sold in trios, pairs or as cockerals and since I can't have cockerals none were any good to me which is a shame because some were going for £38 for the three birds which is great because they basicly half price to what you would normally buy from breeder. Just beware of the terms that trio means 2 hens and a cockeral and a pair is a boy and a girl.

Determind not to come home empty handed we went to Smillers Farm which has changed a lot since the last time i was their and its great to have something like that so close to where I live. They had a big variety of hybrid hens which are better layers then purebreeds so I came home with three new hens consisting of one Maran who will lay dark brown eggs and 2 bluebeles which are the hybrids come february the bluebells should lay every day till mid Autum then stop which is normal for a chicken.

My collection of hens consists of:

2 Polish/polands
2 Brahma's
2 Bluebeles
1 Maran

now i need names for my Maran and 2 bluebeles im thinking of calling the Maran Margo.
